Dear Baby Eva, Another month has flown by. This one has come with some big changes. Today marks one full week of potty training. You’re doing pretty awesome and now are 100% diaper free at home during the daytime. You pee and poop in the toilet 80+% of the time, with only a couple of accidents throughout the day. Even when you do have an accident, you tell me you need to go moments beforehand. You’re just not able to make it to the toilet in time. How quickly you’ve caught on makes me wonder if I should have started sooner. But with our traveling and my first trimester exhaustion, I kept putting it off. I think this is the perfect time, though. We still have a few months before we move and your baby brother or sister arrives, so you have plenty of time to become a pro. I think this is the only thing about your babyhood that I’m not even slightly sad to say goodbye to. In fact, I’m extremely happy about not having to wash a bunch of diapers everyday. I’m not sure how we’ll transition you out of your nighttime diaper but we’ll get there when we get there, I guess.

I don’t know if you sense that there is going to be another baby in the house soon, but lately you’ve become REALLY into “taking care” of your baby dolls. You carry them around, ssh them to sleep, share your sippy cup with them, and now take them to the potty so they can go peepee (though I’ve been a bit afraid you’re going to drop one of them in there one day). You’re becoming more and more into imaginative play in general. You’ll take two of your stuffed animals and make them have conversations with each other, and I swear you use a different voice when you’re waving around each one. It just blows my mind that you’re becoming such a little person with your very own thoughts and storyline.

Your mannerisms are super girly and feminine and I have no idea where you get it from because I’m definitely not that way. You put your little hands over your mouth when you giggle. You use your hands when you speak in a way that teenage girls do. I can’t really describe it with words, but you’re just such a girly-girl. I always worried about this when I found out I was having a girl. I won’t be able to give you advice on how to do your makeup or make your hair look nice. I was always a little tomboy. You’ll have to learn that stuff from your Auntie Ashley, I guess.

As far as learning goes, you can repeat the numbers 1-10, but you’ve only ever counted up to six on your own. You never say “one” though. You wait for me to say it. Then you say, “twooooo, treeeeee, etc.” You point down at your fingers and count them aloud. It’s the most adorable thing ever. You know pretty much all of your body parts in both English and Spanish, but you’ll only say them in one of the two languages. For example, you always call your eyes “eyes” and hands “manos,” but you still point to them when I say “ojitos” or “hands.”

You can jump pretty darn hight now, with both feet leaving the ground. You looooove singing and dancing, and you still ask me to sing “Happy Birthday” every night before you go to sleep. I’m pretty sure your favorite song is, “If You’re Happy and You Know It,” though. Your favorite place is still the beach. You’re fearless when it comes to playing in the ocean. Your favorite book is now Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?, only you refer to it as, “Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop!” (your favorite line in the book). Your favorite toy is your set of blocks… or my iPad when I let you have it. You’ve mastered ALL the stacking and sorting games I could find on that thing.

You throw the occasional tantrum, but you’re still the sweetest baby. You’ll walk up to me out of the blue, throw your little arms around my neck and say, “I love you.” Those are the happiest moments of my life. Thank you for them, and thank you for being my baby.

Love, Mama
